Tall Oil Fatty Acids

Tall oil fatty acid and its derivatives are used in the manufacturing of rubber, paper, soaps and detergents, printing inks, metalworking fluids, corrosion inhibitors and plasticizers.

Product Options

MWV L-5
This liquid tall oil fatty acid contains less than 5 percent rosin acids, and is useful in applications not sensitive to light color. L-5 is used in industrial cleaners, anionic flotation reagents, alkyd resins, imidazoline corrosion inhibitors, metalworking fluids, general purpose tallate esters and sulfated fatty acids.

MWV L-5A Special
L5-A Special is a light colored tall oil fatty acid containing less than 3.5 percent rosin acids. It is an excellent raw material for the production of alkyd resins, and also functions well in industrial and household cleaners where a light colored fatty acid is preferred.

MWV L-1
This light colored tall oil fatty acid contains a low level of rosin acids. It is an excellent raw material for the production of high-quality specialty industrial chemicals such as dimer acids, epoxidized tallate esters and fatty acid esters for cosmetic, polymer and textile applications.

MWV L-1A
This pale tall oil fatty acid contains less than 1 percent rosin acids, and is used in applications where light color and low rosin content are critical. It is an excellent raw material for dimers, alkyds and epoxidized tallate esters. It replaces oleic acid in certain applications such as liquid soaps, fatty alcohols, amides, nitriles and formulations where a low titer, unsaturated fatty acids is required.
