Grave Emulsion
Grave emulsions provide an alternative to traditional hot-mix asphalt for base or wearing courses. Asphalt emulsions using our emulsifiers are combined with continuously graded virgin aggregate containing low levels of fines. The mixture can be used immediately or stockpiled for several days before use.
Due to the lower binder content the mixture is not fully coated. Instead, the coated fines mastic holds the larger aggregate fractions together. Pavements made with grave emulsions are usually protected with a surface treatment to seal the surface and prevent raveling.
