Responsible Care at MWV

Learn more about our Responsible Care commitment to protect human health and the environment.

MWV Specialty Chemicals is a leading supplier of Nuchar® activated carbon — serving the water, beverage, food, sweetener, pharmaceutical, chemical, gas/air and environmental industries. Our wood-based carbons are used in the adsorption process to remove impurities from fluids and gases.

Our activated carbon products are derived from wood — assuring greater purity and superior performance through higher surface area and pore volume per gram than other raw material alternatives. The consistent quality and renewable resource availability of our raw material are in increasing demand.

We operate the world’s two largest wood-based activated carbon plants in Covington, Virginia, U.S. and Wickliffe, Kentucky, U.S. to provide customers around the world with a dependable product supply. In 2004, we announced a partnership to operate another plant in Shaowu, China, which enhances our service to key customers and strengthens our presence in a growing market region.
