We developed MWare® with sustainability in mind.
At MWV, sustainability is an integral part of everything we do. Our customers rely on us to make responsible business decisions each day that will benefit them and our people, communities and the environment.
We are sensitive to the fact that nearly one fourth of all U.S. landfill waste is discarded packaging. And since packaging is at the heart and soul of our business, we are committed to developing valuable, sustainable solutions.
At MWV, our charge is to design responsible solutions that make a difference.
That’s why we employ a life cycle approach. We implement sustainability at every stage, beginning with the responsible sourcing of raw materials. We engineer and design packaging to reduce our impact on the environment and to use natural resources responsibly. Finally, we make our packages easy for consumers to use and recycle, after which they're easily converted and reprocessed back into raw materials.
MWare® products are paperboard-based, and all start with wood fiber from source-certified, renewable resources. Our U.S. paperboard mills and extruding facilities are chain of custody certified to Sustainability Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Programme for the Endorsement of Fiber Certification (PEFC) standards.
The post consumer recycled fiber (PCF) we use is USFDA and ISEGA food contact compliant. To maintain these standards, we currently offer a maximum of 30 percent recycled content in our MWare line.
MWV’s fiber bleaching process is elemental chlorine free (ECF). And, while we use a lot of water in the paperboard manufacturing process, actual consumption is minimal. Nonetheless, any water that is not recycled in the manufacturing process is treated to established standards and returned to surface sources.
For over a century MWV has developed paperboards of the highest quality for packaging applications of all kinds. For food service operators, our years of experience in material science, package design, converting and sustainability leadership means you can count on MWare to deliver the solutions that help your business and your brand succeed.
