MWV, in cooperation with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, is developing a landscape-scale program to create one of the finest trout fisheries in the Appalachians in company-owned forestland.

Through MWV Trout Adventure, we are actively managing trout habitat and natural waterways in 146,000 acres of company-owned forestland in West Virginia.

Native Brook Trout Facts

In 1973, the brook trout was chosen as West Virginia’s official state fish, and is the state’s only native trout species.

Native brook trout live and reproduce only in the coldest and purest mountain streams.
