Career History

Mr. Rose, 48, has responsibility for MWV's Specialty Chemicals Division.

Mr. Rose began his career with Westvaco in 1984 in the Construction Chemicals Group where he was responsible for the development of road construction products and technologies that enabled rapid business expansion.  In 1987 he took an assignment in sales to represent Specialty Chemicals pine chemicals business markets.

In 1992 Mr. Rose was promoted to business development manager responsible for helping the organization develop new strategies, products and innovative approaches to the market for customers who welcomed partnering with a leading industry chemical supplier.  His efforts garnered him a 1996 promotion to marketing manager for the Polychemicals Department where he led a team in the development of new products for the textile, agricultural, and pine chemicals markets.  The success of these products on a national scale allowed the organization to achieve competitive advantage.

Mr. Rose was promoted in 2003 to vice president of the Performance Chemicals business where his knowledge of customers, operations, and strategic planning have been impactful to organizational growth and the development of new channels in emerging markets like India, China and South America.  To further the growth and strategic intent of the Specialty Chemicals business, Mr. Rose assumed responsibility for the area of Strategic Alliances and Acquisitions in early 2009 resulting in new growth with companies like Rohm and Haas, BASF, Eastman Chemicals, and Deerfield.
