 Career History

Mr. Massee oversees MeadWestvaco’s corporate affairs, with responsibility for domestic and global government relations, community affairs and special projects for senior leadership.

Mr. Massee joined Westvaco in 1985 as an assistant government relations manager. In 1986, he was promoted to manager of government relations. In that position, he provided leadership of corporate government relations activities and coordinated the Westvaco Political Participation Program, of which he was vice chairman and secretary, and coordinated the Westvaco grassroots network. In March 1991, he was promoted to assistant manager, public affairs.  He was elected vice president and promoted to manager in August 1991. In 2001, he became vice president of corporate affairs.  

Before joining Westvaco, Mr. Massee had over 12 years of experience on Capitol Hill. He was a key member of the staff of United States Senator Jennings Randolph (D-WV) between 1973 and 1984. As chief legislative assistant, he was responsible for the coordination of the senator’s legislative program and staff.
