Career History

Mr. Banu is vice president and controller of MeadWestvaco Corporation.

Mr. Banu joined Westvaco in 1976 as senior internal auditor.  He was promoted to assistant internal audit manager in January 1977 and internal audit manager in March 1978. In 1980, he became assistant controller and was named controller in January 1995.  In November 1999, he was elected vice president and assumed responsibility for the business services area of the Packaging Resources Group.  Mr. Banu was promoted to corporate controller in 2002.

Prior to joining Westvaco, Mr. Banu served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 and was with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. from 1972 to 1976.
